Our latest addition to our Gem Luxe line features fair trade gems. What is fair trade gems? Gemstone supplier Columbia Gem House: "Fair Trade Gems are closely tracked from mine to market to ensure that every gem has been handled according to strict protocols. The protocols include environmental protection, fair labor practices at the cutting and jewelry factories, and a tight chain of custody that eliminates the possibility of treated gems or synthetics being introduced into the supply chain. The program also includes promotion of cultural diversity, and public education and accountability." So that's what romancing the stone really means: making sure that people and the earth are treated with respect, and we support this notion wholeheartedly here at HL Eco Jewelry!

Back to Order
Most of us have gone back to our pre-holiday schedule and I just want to share this letter of Flaubert, the great French writer, to remind us all that being at it EVERYDAY can be tough but we will see the hard work pays off! And I'll add that you MUST also LOVE what you do! :)
My dear,
Be regular and orderly in your life, so that you may be violent and original in your work.
People go about thinking that the people who contribute most to this world (the most originality, the most fun, the most spontaneity in their work) are those who go about leading wild, violent, unordely, drug, and party filled lives. But as the saying goes ‘the majority is always wrong’.
The ones who sit down every day to work on their art, the ones who get up early to catch the worm, the ones with schedules that are kept – they are who contribute most to life.
Gustave Flaubert
